Até 2020, a Europa terá uma ciclovia gigante com 70 mil quilômetros de extensão. No total, 14 grandes rotas irão interligar 43 países e poderão ser usadas por turistas que buscam viajar de uma forma alternativa ou pela população local para o deslocamento do dia a dia.

De acordo com a Federação Europeia de Ciclistas (ECF), cada uma das rotas recebeu um nome que reflete as paisagens e histórias que serão encontradas pelo trajeto. Segundo a entidade, os percursos vão ligar, por exemplo, o oceano Atlântico ao Mar Negro e o Ártico ao mar Mediterrâneo.

A maior delas terá mais de 10 mil quilômetros de extensão, a Eurovelo 13, que também é chamada de Cortina de Ferro, em alusão aos tempos em que o continente europeu era dividido em Europa Oriental e Ocidental.

Quem desejar viajar por ela irá atravessar 20 países. O percurso começa na cidade de Kirkenes, no norte da Noruega, e segue por países como a Rússia, Alemanha e Hungria até chegar ao pequeno vilarejo de Rezovo, que fica na fronteira entre a Bulgária e a Turquia.

Outra rota que promete belas paisagens é a Eurovelo 2, apelidada de Rota das Capitais. Ela terá mais de 5 mil quilômetros e irá ligar a cidade de Galway, na Irlanda, até Moscou, na Rússia.

Alguns trechos já estão prontos, como, por exemplo, o que liga Dublin (Irlanda) ao interior da Polônia. No meio deste caminho, os viajantes vão cruzar ainda Londres (Inglaterra), Haia (Holanda) e Berlim (Alemanha).

A estimativa é que a totalidade da ciclovia fique pronta apenas daqui seis anos. Contudo, basta acessar o site da entidade para planejar as aventuras nos trechos que já estão prontos. Além de um mapa interativo das rotas, por lá é possível também visualizar os principais pontos turísticos que vão aparecer pelo caminho.
