The World Environment Day is celebrated each year on 5 June.
The World Environment Day began to be celebrated in 1972 with the aim of promoting protection activities and environmental preservation and alert the world public and governments of each country to the dangers of neglecting the task of caring for the environment.
It was in Stockholm on June 5, 1972, which began the first of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment (lasted until day 16) and for that reason was the date chosen as World Environment Day.
In Brazil still is celebrated National Environment Week, as a result of the date set by the UN.
Theme of World Environment Day
Every year, the United Nations give a different theme of World Environment Day. The themes for the World Environment Day is a way to give ideas for awareness of population and environmental protection activities.
