Poluição afeta quase 90% das principais cidades da China
O ar que se respira em quase 90% das principais cidades chinesas continua aquém dos padrões de qualidade, apesar da “melhoria” registrada em 2014, segundo avaliação divulgada nesta segunda-feira, 2 de fevereiro, pelo Ministério chinês da Proteção Ambiental.

Das 74 cidades avaliadas, apenas oito satisfizeram os padrões nacionais de qualidade do ar, principalmente quanto à densidade das pequenas partículas, as mais suscetíveis de se infiltrarem nos pulmões e de atacarem o sistema respiratório. Em 2013, só três cidades (Haikou, Lhasa e Zhoushan) cumpriram os padrões, diz o ministério.

Pequim, considerada uma das capitais mais poluídas do mundo, “não está entre as dez piores nem entre as dez melhores”, informa o jornal China Daily, sem precisar o lugar ocupado pela cidade. Mas sete das dez cidades chinesas com pior qualidade do ar em 2014 estão em volta da capital.

Hoje, o índice municipal de qualidade do ar em Pequim estava no nível “moderadamente poluído”.

A poluição tornou-se nos últimos anos uma das principais fontes de descontentamento popular na China, além da corrupção e das crescentes desigualdades sociais. Em março de 2013, o novo primeiro-ministro, Li Keqiang, prometeu que o governo ia “declarar guerra à poluição”.

Empresas condenadas

Seis empresas de Taizhou, na província de Jiangsu, no Leste da China, foram condenadas em dezembro passado a pagar 160 milhões de yuans (cerca de 23 milhões de euros) por terem descarregado 25 mil toneladas de detritos químicos em dois rios, na maior multa desse tipo ordenada por um tribunal chinês.

Das dez cidades com melhor qualidade do ar em 2014, quatro (Shenzhen Zhuhai, Huizhou e Zhongshan) ficam na província de Guangdong.

Avanço tímido

Entre as dez piores, a lista é liderada por Baoding, cidade da província de Hebei situada a cerca de 200 quilômetros ao sul de Pequim e que é a sede de uma das mais conhecidas fábricas chinesas de painéis solares.

Em 2014, o número de dias “altamente poluídos” na capital chinesa diminuiu para 45, treze a menos do que em 2013. Houve 93 dias com qualidade do ar “excelente”, 22 a mais do que no ano anterior.
