Após dois meses seca, a nascente histórica do Rio São Francisco brotou novamente. Segundo o diretor do Parque Nacional da Serra da Canastra, Luiz Arthur Castanheira, o fato foi oficializado no Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) nesta sexta-feira (28), mas ainda não se sabe o dia exato em que ocorreu o fenômeno. Até o momento foram registrados mais de 370 milímetros de chuvas na região. “O volume foi o suficiente para alimentar o lençol freático e brotar de novo a água da nascente”, afirmou o diretor do parque.
Segundo o chefe substituto do local, Vicente Faria, a natureza tem se recomposto com o período de chuvas que teve início recentemente na região. As plantas, as flores e o mato verde a perder de vista no chapadão da Canastra indicam uma nova fase. E quem viu de perto a nascente chamada de "histórica" seca e tomada por fuligem agora comemora o ressurgimento. “Sim, estamos muito felizes. Faltou chuva, mas ela veio”, destacou o brigadista Paulo Moisés da Silva, que foi quem descobriu a nascente seca, em setembro deste ano.

Ainda conforme Castanheira, técnicos foram enviados ao local durante a semana passada para constatar o ressurgimento da nascente já que outros "olhos d'água" pequenos que também estavam secos voltaram a brotar água. "Foi então que confirmamos. Já sabíamos que isso iria ocorrer, era questão de chuva e tem chovido de fato dias seguidos na região", comerntou.
Contudo, o registro da principal nascente do Rio São Francisco cheia novamente ainda não pode ser feito pela imprensa e visitantes, pois a intensidade das chuvas tem sido significativa e provocou deslizamentos na estrada que dá acesso a uma das portarias do parque e que leva até a nascente. Por isso está interditada e não é possível chegar até o local. "Tentei subir de jipe hoje pela manhã para poder fazer fotos, mas é completamente impossível. Há placas indicando a interdição e elas devem permanecer até que seja possível chegar até o parque", disse o secretário de Meio Ambiente André Picardi.
A seca da nascente
Foi durante um incêndio em setembro, quando os brigadistas do parque tentavam impedir que o fogo atingisse a nascente do rio, que Paulo Moisés da Silva sentiu que o trabalho foi em vão. "Desci 500 metros com a bomba nas costas para colocá-la na nascente e quando cheguei vi o que de fato ninguém esperava. Foi a pior surpresa daquele dia. A nascente estava seca", lembrou.
Na ocasião, a seca foi tratada como a pior já vista em todos os tempos. “Não há registros históricos de seca dessa nascente. Essa estiagem simbolizou uma mudança climática rigorosa e serviu de alerta para toda humanidade", afirmou o diretor do parque.

O São Francisco tem mais de 2.700 km e corta sete estados brasileiros - Bahia, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Goiás e Distrito Federal - o que dá a ele o título de maior rio totalmente brasileiro, com uma bacia hidrográfica que abrange 504 municípios.

Impactos no turismo
Após as queimadas constantes e a divulgação de que a nascente do Rio São Francisco havia secado houve queda no turismo na região e, de acordo com a Associação de Turismo da Serra da Canastra (Atusca), a baixa no número de visitantes chegou a 60%. Há sete meses, quase toda a vegetação tinha sido consumida pela estiagem, mas nas últimas semanas o cenário tem sido outro e o o turismo que havia sido comprometido agora está em ritmo normal, segundo a diretora da associação Daniela Labônia.
